That can hurt a bit but I would recommend putting a little bit of bacitracin or even vaseline on one end and it will slide through your ear pretty easily, that is what I do and usually have success.

So, I gauged up from a 7/8 to a full inch in about 30 minutes, and put in a pair of double flared stone plugs. The thin side, did fine for a week- then I started to experience some pain, with nasty oozing goo and blood.

So as soon as I put them in I ordered 6g double flared plugs off of bodypunks.com and a set of the next size they had which said 3g but they were definitely closer to 2g than 4g. When I got them they sent me two sets of 2g. I was pissed but didn't feel like sending them back in so I just saved them.
