You would only be offered Syntocinon if your labour hasn't started following a membrane sweep or prostoglandin, or if your contractions are not very effective. Syntocinon has several disadvantages over other methods of induction.

I have just had an ante natal appointment (I am now 2 days overdue) and at 10 days overdue they have scheduled me for a membrane sweep. If that doesn't work I would be induced 2 days later.

antibiotics aren't 100% effective on GBS), internal fetal monitoring (the wires are like runways for the bacteria and it requires membrane rupture), and internal exams after your membranes rupture. I wish you the best of luck, and try not to worry too much.
