Eyesight is simply the ability to see something clearly, the so-called 20/20 eyesight (as measured in a standard eye examination with a Snellen chart). Vision goes beyond eyesight and can best be defined as the understanding of what is seen.

Sometimes visual acuity is measured using a test distance of 6 meters instead of 20 feet. In these cases, the Snellen fraction "6/6" indicates normal eyesight (6/6 = 20/20), 6/12 is the same relative level of eyesight as 20/40, and so on.

Although eyesight is measured in numbers such as 20/20, 20/100 and 20/200, these measurements are not exact. Much as no two individuals with "normal vision" will see the same, so is it true of the visually impaired.
