I was just wondering how long a person can stay awake and still sustain good health. Is it possible to stay awake forever? Can the body rest enough without sleep? ... My record is 26 hours, but I only did that once. I try not to make a habit of staying up that much! Regularly, I stay up for 18/19 hours like the 2nd answerer. That amounts to 6/7 hours of sleep per night which is perfect for me.

It depends who you are - some people have managed to stay awake for many days. Not sleeping is very, very bad for the body and mind though. People who don't sleep become delirious, hallucinate, and can even die (rare).
