Secondly, while swaddling is fine to settle a baby, I strongly discourage leaving babies swaddled throughout the night. Swaddling babies too often and for too long can interfere with the normal development of the ball-and-socket joint in the hip (infant hip dislocation is common in cultures that use long-term swaddling).

Hi ladies, how long do you swaddle your baby? My baby is almost 3 months now and I swaddle him at night when he sleeps. I'm thinking to stop swaddle him but concerned he won't be sleeping as soundly as when he's bundled up.

We even used duct tape to hold the blanket closed and my mom made some awesome very light weight swaddling cloths that were actually big enough to swaddle an older baby (the ones in the stores are not big enough!) ... I have a seven-month-old, 14 lbs, 26 inch long baby who is big and strong enough to wriggle out of most swaddles.

til he was big enough to undo it and became very squirmy which was around 3 months. I don't know anything about the ring....the doctors took him away for about 15 minutes and when they brought him back it was already done...sorry.
