Nurses, DR, Assistants at hospitals (encluding vet hospitals) must document everything from poop, to exercise and what they eat (including how much). Again, I have not heard anything about pushing to toughen up on the tail docking and stuff.

EAR CROPPIING, TAIL DOCKING & DEWCLAWS ... Aftercare adds more cost and many trips to the breeder or veterinarian for the taping procedure which "teaches" the ears to stand. ... With the newer anesthetic drugs and monitoring equipment that veterinarians have access to, these procedures are much safer than they were ten years ago.

around $100 dollars, though you can do it yourself, by when they're puppies, put a rubber band around their tail for a long time, and when the blood circulation is cut off, just take some scissors and cut the tail off, DONE!

Removing dewclaws without anaesthetic hurts every bit as much as docking a tail. My undocked Dobes have worked obedience, agility and show. They have, in their lives, damaged every part of their body except their tails!!!

Let them keep their tails. I'm a veterinary nurse that used to have to hold pups for tail docking and dew claw removal and anyone who says it doesn't hurt them is talking rubbish. Tail Docking is in the interest of the pup ... Eventually the vet recommended we have the tail amputated, which was done on 12th February 1997. This caused Lucy much distress over the next few days. She cried a lot with pain, was very reluctant to even walk and generally changed completely from the happy confident dog...

Tail docking, or surgical shortening of the tail, is performed in puppies during the first 2 to 5 days of life. This is done in order to comply with established breed standards for your particular pet. But, supervision by the breeder is required to avoid getting tails too short since most docked tails (Boxers, Dobermans, Spaniels, etc.) are cut much shorter. Also, some vets make a big production of tail docking by shaving the tails and stitching them because this is what they do with the shorter docked tails.
