I'm kind of in limbo land, and don't know how best to make things better. ... under this circumstance, i think the hostess should immediately send out a "WHOOPS!" email to everyone and cancel the party altogether (something like..."DUH...we should have checked with the bride before we set the party date, and this weekend...

My twin brother and I hosted a New Year's Day dinner party, mixing out-of-town guests with local friends. As the party was obviously drawing to an end, a friend issued an impromptu invitation for the group to go to his house for more champagne (and a tour of his lovely home).

Right now, there is no way to cancel a party once you confirm it. Schedule a new party for the correct time and place, and have your friends come to both events! GENERAL
