I just bought a jetta and the people said they wer ... put a 1/2 inch drive and what ever socket size on the crank bolt and try to turn the engine over by hand,but take the spark plugs out first it will be easier to turn over if it is not seized up.

First thing i would make sure is to remove the belt from the engine and see if it turns then.... ... If they say it is seized then most likely it is, it very east to check, a locked up AC compressor can seem like a seized engine, ask did they check that, ask how they determined it was seized.

I figured either the TR (Transmission Range) sensor is out or my engine is seized but I don't how to free a seized engine on an automatic transmission explorer. If anybody has any other ideas on what it could be or can tell me where to put the breaker bar to manually move the crankshaft I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer: Check the engine oil for water. Change the oil if necessary. If the engine will not crank over as if it is frozen, remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over by hand to remove the water from the cylinders.

The check engine light is not related to the oil or the transmission fluid systems. It is related to fuel control, computer, emmissions control systems. The faint ticking you hear may just be the normal noise coming ... Go to Auozone and have the code downloaded, then come back to this site and ask how to fix that code.
