An NTLDR is compressed error is pretty easy to fix(much better then NTLDR is missing errors!). First you need to boot to the recovery console. To boot to the recovery console follow these steps: 1. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.

Hi everyone again, I posted a few hours ago with this problem and I cant believe no one out there in this wonderful techy forum knows how to fix this. Here is the problem again. I have this NTLDR is compressed phrase and wont boot to windows.

I, too own a Pavilion (7955). I was trying to retrieve a DVD program that got deleted inadvertantly. When I was instructed to restart my computer that's when I got the "NTLDR is compressed" in DOS.

*Replacement of a newer WINASPi32.DLL file in the Nero folder may help, but I am at a loss of how to do this with an unworking OS. Attempted Fixes: ... Ahead Software (Nero) does mention the problem of a drive letter not appearing in Win2K and has a fix, but of course I can't get to the point of applying that fix.

How did you fix the NTLDR problem: We are now having the compressed ntldr problem with an hp machine. When we start the machine we get the message ntldr comprerssed ctrl,alt,del to restart; tried all of above and no joy so far.

How to fix: NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart ... If you copy the file over and boot up and get a "NTLDR is compressed" error message, be sure to uncheck "compress contents to save space" on the hard drive.

I chose safe, altho I had no idea what I was looking for much less how to fix it. Restarting in normal mode only got me back to the blue screen hang up. So I chose 'System Recovery'. After about 30 minutes of backing up my files, I got to a black screen that says "NTLDR is compressed.

Hi, my Gateway laptop all of the sudden started saying that the NTLDR is Compressed...first it says Press F11 to start recovery, and I've tried that and every other time something has gone wrong with my computer THAT always fixes it...but now even when I do ... obviously my stuff is here, just don't know how to get to it.
