i want to fix my lisp but i dont want to get a speech thereapist or whatever. ... It's not very easy to do it by yourself because you have to know what and how you are doing inside your mouth when you pronounce an incorrect (lisped) S and when it is correct. And you can only find it out by visiting a speech therapist.

In my own experience, and that of my immediate colleagues, therapy for lisps in young children is usually short-term and successful. Opinions vary among speech and language professionals with regard to how difficult or easy it is to help a child to overcome a lisp, and how long it will usually take.

However, I need to point out that my student clinician and her supervisor have apparently decided the task of really helping me fix my lisp is too hard, and they want to focus on social skills. Yes, ... I know how to talk "normally" without the lisp but it is not anything automatic or even something I do very often.
