depends...the longer it is the harder it will be to spike it up. on the other hand, when it gets really long it will all fall straight down and look cool. i'd say if you want a "real" mohawk keep it ... Hmm. A mohawk of at least 12 inches sounds like a horse's mane. Could be a cool look even if you can't get it to spike up.
