Some other examples of independent events are: ... To find the probability of two independent events that occur in sequence, find the probability of each event occurring separately, and then multiply the probabilities. This multiplication rule is defined symbolically below.

Beginners sometimes confuse disjoint versus independent events. Exclusive (ie. disjoint) events capture the intuition of non-compatible outcomes. Not compatible outcomes cannot happen at the same time. This is not the same as independent outcomes.

Now you know that the probability of heads landing up when you flip a coin is 1/2. What is the probability of getting tails if you flip it again? It is still 1/2. The two events do not affect each other. They are independent...

Independence (probability theory) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In probability theory, to say that two events are independent intuitively means that the occurrence of one event makes it neither more nor less probable that the other occurs. For example: • The eve...

Probability of Independent Events ... In it, Tim and Moby will explain how to calculate the probabilities for independent events, like a coin toss. After that, you’ll learn how to figure out the odds that two or more independent events will happen. You’ll need to know how to multiply fractions and convert them...
