In this talk, I will present our work for information distillation in the framework of the GALE project, where the participants are given a set of query templates with variable slots. The goal of the distillation systems is to output ordered segments called snippets, that can be considered as an answer to these queries.

In a typical distillation system, the user query is first processed by an information retrieval system, which finds out the most relevant documents among huge document collections. Each sentence in these documents are processed to answer user’s query.
