I have broken the guide into four parts since there is a lot of information (installing Sendmail, adding SMTP AUTH, configuring a single domain and email account, concluding with testing the server). I haven't tested these steps on other Linux distributions, but they should work for other RedHat versions (including Fedora).

How I built & installed sendmail 8.9.1 under Solaris 2.5.1 ... This is nothing more than a detailed log of the steps I followed to switch from the Sun-distributed sendmail to sendmail 8.9.1. I did this when I discovered that my system was being used to relay SPAM. If you decide to do likewise, your mileage will vary.
