Before you put the piston with new rings back in the block, you need to hone the cylinder walls to remove the glaze from the cylinder walls. My question is what are the general guidelines and procedures for engine cylinder honing? ... I understand the process, but would appreciate any good instructions and advice. The cylinder walls look good with no scoring and the pistions are OK too. I did a valve job last year with new guides etc. so they are fine.

Master-cylinder failure usually shows symptoms other than the vehicle not stopping as intended. Spongy brakes are a prominent indicator. A brake pedal that slowly sinks to the floorboard under foot pressure is a bad sign.
