Among other places I played a concert in the magnificent Riga Cathedral (Latvia) on the 1883 Walcker organ which have 124 stops (144 ranks) and 6768 pipes. I have now made a live recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor (BWV 565) available on the net for free download in very high MP3 quality.

When I think of all the people/colleagues I have seen/heard play this thing so solemnly, so meaningfully, I start to cry with laughter. The Toccata puts me in mind of Mozart's satire of Salieri in "Amadeus," and the fugue is hardly deep, so the only thing left to do is have a ball.

First, I have to say that all the partitions for the Toccata available on the net sucks (sorry guys, I know you've put a lot of work in it)! So I made my own one and here it is: the true and only one Toccata in D-minor This is an adaption from the original organ score.

The Chorzempa recording dates from the early 1970s, the dawn of the quad era. The artist plays with verve and vigor.
