In Analects, Confucius condemned the suggestion that the period of the mourning rites be shortened to one year. Another class of rites of supreme importance was the sacrifices. They are repeatedly mentioned in the Confucian texts where instructions are given for their proper celebration.

I am not a scholar and I did not actually translate the saying of Confucius from the original Chinese pictographs. What I did was to try to find a consensus among several translations. Therefore, what I have written is more of an interpretation than a translation.
