Martial Arts appears fast and skilful while boxing appears to many people simply a slugging match with gloves on; I dont think boxing is barbaric i think it is awasome ibut i used to box though; UFC aside, the rules of many martial arts matches keep the opponents from striking the face or drawing blood.

Boxing is barbaric, basically licensed hooliganism and needs to be either changed, or banned. We need to make sure that these incidents do not happen. Look at F1, when people die, or are seriously hurt there are all sorts of inquiries, and the sport became safer.

It is also clear that the public views boxing as barbaric and as a threat to ones health. Furthermore, there are rampant reports of corruption amongst promoters and the sanctioning bodies. All of these problems may be the reason why boxing is being covered less and less in the olympics.
