When in hospital I spoke to another patient who has had an irregular heart beat for over 60 years and has lived a normal life.. The point of my story is, its not a pleasant sensation to have, but its not as bad as we tend to imagine.

: It's not normal for your heart to skip so I wouldn't say you're totally in the clear. You may want to ask your doctor. In the mean time try to find out what it could be. I've read about one condition that causes irregular heart beats called long qt syndrome, it often gets triggered during exercise.

It's not uncommon for the normal heart to skip beats and for healthy people to notice irregularities in its rhythm.
