If you are asking whether it's okay to shave a cat, it's not going to hurt a cat to have shaved hair. It is possible to injure a cat while trying to shave it, so if you were to shave ... thanks. That makes me feel better. He is at the vet getting his tail bandaged and making sure he is ok for a few days and then we'll see.

Ok, so I've decided to shave two of my kitties. Problem is - they are not declawed (indoor only), never would I do such a horrid thing to them! They never scratched or ... I don't shave my Persians, I do this ritual every weekend with them. ... ok-I don't have a persian, but I have 3 long haired cats and only 1 of them tolerates being brushed for a short period of time. But, it HAS TO BE DONE. You're the boss, right? It is your duty as their parent...

If your cat has matted fur, do not try to cut it off as you may injure the cat. Mats are difficult to comb out and may be painful. You may have to have the vet sedate and shave the cat. Do groom it ... Cats typically shake their heads when given the medication; unless the medication actually comes back out, that is OK.
