Every time I read how someone wracked their brain, I think it should be racked, and according to my dictionary it should.  Can you explain why wracked is ... Perhaps to “rack ones brains” means to drain it as in racking wine from the dregs. At least that’s how I feel, (drained) after I have “racked my brain”.
