The shape of the universe is determined by a struggle between the momentum of expansion and the pull of gravity. The rate of expansion is expressed by the Hubble Constant, H o , while the strength of gravity depends on the density and press...

Ok... I just got into a long discussion with a friend of mine as to whether or not the universe is infinite or finite. I said it was sort of a mixture ... The Big Bang model of the universe is finite. I personally believe the big bang universe is just an event in an infinite universe. We'll likely never know the real answer.

In Science: Yes, the universe is infinite, since it is constantly expanding. In Theory: No, the universe is not infinite. Since space is full of curves, as theorized by Albert Einstein, maybe space is just one big curve. Maybe traveling in ...

If we go to smaller and smaller times since the Big Bang, the green circle shrinks to a point, but the 78 billion light year box is always full, and it is always an infinitesimal fraction of the infinite Universe.

Is the Universe really infinite or just really big? ... We have observations that say that the radius of curvature of the Universe is bigger than 70 billion light years. But the observations allow for either a positive or negative curvature, and this range includes the flat Universe with infinite radius of curvature.

Actually we don't even know enough about the shape of the Universe to affirm that the Universe is infinite or not. Suppose we put an ant on a infinite sheet of paper. The ant is short-sighted and sees only that close to him his universe loo...

On the other hand, an infinite universe seems impossible too. If the universe is infinite in extent, then an actual infinity, or an infinite actuality, exists. Aristotle argued that there is no such thing as an actual infinity.[1] An actual, or completed, infinity seems to be literally a contradiction in terms;

However no matter how much sex we humans can get up to we will still be finite in number and so by reversing the above argument it shows that if the universe is infinite then you could place humans on every planet but there would still be more planets.
