Depending on exactly where you happen to be in the world, this plant goes by various names including David's tears, Saint Mary's tears, Christ's tears (Lacryma Christi), and just plain tear drops.

Today Job's Tears are everywhere. The plant has been introduced to many countries, where it is used as a food supplement (you can buy it in health food stores in the US). I recently ran across a photo of myself taken in New York City in 1968 or 1969. I was wearing a triple strand of colored Job's Tears.
