Ord's Kangaroo Rat (D. ordii) is the most-wide-ranging and occurs between the Sierra Nevada /Cacscade and Rocky mountains from southern Canada to central Mexico. Two species of the smaller Kangaroo Mouse (genus Microdipodops) occur in the Great Basin Desert.
