A Kock or Koch Pouch is a form of continent ileostomy. (Apparently, Kock is the right term as Dr Nils Kock from Sweden invented the procedure but some Americans thought it sounded obscene and so changed it to Koch - that's just what I've heard anyway).

This is called a J-pouch or W-pouch or Koch's pouch ( all variations on the same thing). The operation is performed either as a 1, 2 or 3 stage operation although as far as I can tell the 1 stage is rarely carried out in this country ...
