Found the liberty cap mushrooms on a cow pasture in south puget sound, these little guys can be difficult to identify as there are lots and lots of LBMs (little brown mushrooms) with similar characteristics. In the late fall or early winter they can be locally prolific.

I've been recommended 'Collins' field guide to mushrooms and toadstools'. There is of course a wealth of information on the 'net. Liberty cap mushrooms will usually have a cap that is 1-1.5cm in diameter, narrowly conical with a central, pointed projection.
