Hey all: We've been working on a friends vehicle trying to remove the transmission fill bolt. It is seized and the head is now stripped from pipe wrenches, vise grips and the like. I believe the next option is to try to heat it up and see if it will loosen.

weld a bolt on top of the old one and loosen the bolt with a wrench. if you dont have access to a welder us the vise-grips ... If this doesn't work, the bolt is definately seized and I will need to get the bolt extractor at Sears ( I believe that I will have to ultimately go this route). Any tips on bolt extractions?

Withe the bolt seized so tight that it broke off, what chance does an easyout of less diameter have? When the break is in steel I resort to my welder with good results. ... You can heat aluminum but not violently, it melts before it glows. Aluminum does expand faster than steel so heat is one way to loosen up a stuck bolt.

how to free a seized bolt??? help!!! Aerostar ... butane will not be hot enough to loosen the bolt. Use the MAPP gas. But before doing so, cover wires, vacuum hoses, ect with aluminum foil with the shiny side out. This will act as a temporary heat shield for those parts while you go at it with the MAPP gas.
