MOS 97E is the MOS of choice for in-service recruiting for MOS 97B applicants, but MOS 97E Soldiers who choose to re-classify into MOS 97B are still required to go through the full MOS 97B (CI Applicant) process. MOS 97B requirements decrease from 1645 to 1305 during transformation to the Modular Force.
