Under acid conditions iron(II) is more difficult to oxidise in soluiton than it is under neutral or alkaline conditions. Mohr's salt is itself a useful source of Fe(II) since in the solid state it is much more resistant to oxidation by the air than most iron(II) compounds.

Two very pleasing methods are given in Nuffield A-level Chemistry, Students’ Book, 4th edition Topic 11, pp 249-250. The titration method is one of these and you could extend it by changing the intial concentrations firstly of the propanone and secondly of the acid.
