Unfortunately, we are faced with the same problem that we were with bulk density — the angle of repose is not a constant for a given material and depends upon the method of heap formation. There again are two measurements commonly quoted: the poured angle of repose and the drained angle of repose.

The forces of gravity and friction are in balance at the angle of repose which is the maximum slope angle that unconsolidated materials can maintain. At angles steeper than the angle of repose friction is not sufficient to counter gravity and mass wasting occurs. ... In flows, the material behaves as a fluid.

QUESTION: Would the angle of repose of the same material be different on Mars than on Earth? If so, what would that difference be and why? Perhaps secondary factors such as these will affect differences in the angle of repose, but I do not think it can be gravity per se. Of course, there is no wet soil on Mars today.
