but becuase of the gloss, it causes reflections under certain lighting situations so it may be harder to view than matte. also, you have to be more careful handling glossy paper with fingerprints and all. i personally do all my prints in gloss.

I find matte or Pearl or similar finishes easier to spot with ink, an important consideration for larger prints. Also, as someone has said, most prints find themselves behind glass (which helps also by blocking some of the UV), so matte or glossy is not as big an issue.

I have 6 computers, some matte, some glossy. I write this right now on a newly purchased HP HDX machine with all the bells and whistles and unfortunately a glossy screen. I love this laptop for its functionality, but the eyestrain it causes me in my house of many windows is almost unbearable.
