At my school we are having a Medieval Day. I am dressing up as a Lady in Waiting to my friend and I would You, as lady in waiting, are the means for your family to climb in the social hierarchy of the middle ages. The prettier you are, the more likely, the high nobility will fancy you. So, clothing was very important.

England is still really medieval in 1500, although by then we’d call Italy “Renaissance” (not that that means the social hierarchy changes much). The High Middle Ages are the most classically used for fantasy but even then there’s a lot of variation.
