Even Dom Prosper Gueranger, the great liturgist of the Roman rite, speaks of them only in general terms as being days of fasting.

As I stood in front of my burgeoning "To Be Read" SHELF I had to fight the urge to list all the books on there. I see & smell books and reason just flies out the window.

The Ember Days occur during the third week of Advent, the first full week of Lent, ... At first I was not impressed, felt no great surge of emotion of finding something I had “lost” yet over the months I have grown to appreciate this EXTRA-ORDINARY form more as shall I say the adult version of the Mass.
