Many people ended have up taking in abandoned or injured baby doves, as mourning dove babies are very vulnerable to attacks by predators after their parents leave the nest and also during their first two or three days on the ground.

My husband and I have been enjoying observing a mother Mourning Dove nest and raise two babies this summer. Our house seems to be a popular spot for nesting birds - and this little lady was taking advantage of our car port.

mourning doves, new babies, front porch: It depends on how far south you live. Some stay here in northeast Oklahoma all year. They eat many things including seeds that fall to the ground from feeders, and they feed their babies milk from their crops so the babies may be OK if you do not live too... ... More Birding Answers;

As I talked with my mother on the phone, an adult mourning dove landed once again on my balcony railing. It stood there for about 15 minutes walking along the railing and calling out. I do not know if it was the female dove calling for her babies or if it was the male calling for his perhaps deceased partner.
