From 1st gear to 2nd, or from a complete stop (such as a stop light) and you give the car gas, should the Rpms jump from 2000 to 3000-4000 RPMS? I can understand a gradually climb, but my car first hesitates and then jumps to like between 3000 and 4000 rpms and then shifts.

Does this problem occur when your foot is off the gas and your coasting? I had a similar problem in my 94 Shadow. I believe this vehicle has an idle air adjustment on the throttle body. Use a t20 star key and open it a little and see if any difference is made.
