If these are new brake pads the glaze is from the heads of the staples your mechanic hammered into your brake pads. Over time this will wear off leaving just the legs of the staples to gouge your disks so that you need expensive disk replacement as well as pads next time.

I left it alone cause I figured it was a part of the brake in process. I broke in these parts properly. Now, still 400 miles later I still have squeaking with all new products. The shop used some red colored spray-on anti-squeal liquid that they spreyed onto the backs of my pads.

Enable EMail Alerts Start New Thread ... i've replaced the pads w/o turning the drums before and no squeaking. these pads did come with the corners 'shaved'. from your responses my guess its the shim on the back of the pad or a hard spot, or just crappy pads (i did go the cheap route this time <sigh>).

I only had the new pads cos it failed the MOT on this. I'm sure they would have sold me the new discs if they could have !!!!
