The Nile crocodile is the largest of the four crocodile species found in Africa. They have a maximum length of 20 ft 5 in (6.2 m) from the head to the tip of the tail. They usually weigh 500 lbs (225 kg) but will reach weights of up to 1650 lbs (730 kg). The Nile crocodile is the best known of all of the crocodile species.
