i had my nose cauterized this morning as i suffer from very heavy frequent nose bleeds, however i was not put to sleep under general anesthesia, i was awake through the procedure and it lasted only a few minutes.

Multiple times I was taken to the doctor to have my nose cauterized. This is when the blood vessels inside your nose are burned , to either stop a current ... Honestly I can't remember - I imagine it's not a comfortable thing but hopefully now the procedure has more precautions since I had it done about 20 years ago.

I had 3 blood vessels in my right nostril that kept bleeding very easily(even if I ate spicy food!). So, I met the doctor and got it cauterized in the same first appointment. The silver nitrate is so painful. It felt like I broke my nose and my right front tooth was killing me too.

The absolute worst thing you can do is have your nose cauterized. This creates permanant damage and will do nothing to help prevent nosebleeds from recurring. I know, because I have had my nose cauterized three times.

Obviously my nose bleeds were no where near as severe as yours but were annoying and worrisome regardless. ... Then about two weeks ago, got one that wouldn't stop and went to ER, and you know the procedure, cauterization and packing. Then two days later went to have the packing removed, hurt almost as much as when they put it in.
