We here at Ghoststudy have learned that for best results orb photography should be done by using a 35 mm camera and not a digital. Although digital cameras are a useful tool in ghost photography, they can't be entirely trusted when it comes to orbs.

A word of counsel concerning orb photography: Orbs can be produced by accident, and can appear quite readily on film by the elements and conditions around you. Most orb photographs are merely the result of dust or even weather conditions such as rain and humidity.

- the orb must be partially obscured by an identifiable object in the foreground. the obscuring object in the foreground must be darker than the orb with no change of color where it obscures the orb.

One of the leading theories concerning what orbs are and the one that I lean towards the most is that they are not the spirit at all. The orb is the energy being transferred from a source (i.e. powerlines, heat energy, batteries, people, etc) to the spirit so they can manifest.
