Also why is the most disturbing thing about the pledge the mention of God? To me it's this part: "I pledge allegiance to the flag..." HuH?!? ... Actually, considering how recently the Civil War had been fought at the time Bellamy wrote the original pledge, his choice to put "indivisible" into something every child in the...

Sorry to disagree, but I know the pledge means a great deal to a lot of people. I grew up repeating it (hand over heart) in several grades in grammar school -- yes, they had schools back then. :-)
