Outlander TV Mini Series ... I have the pleasure to announce that I've signed a contract for the production of a four-hour mini-series based on OUTLANDER, said mini-series presumably to be aired sometime next year on ABC. Diana Gabaldon's popular "Outlander" series of fantasy novels are headed to the big screen. Essential Pictures is developing the franchise with a screenplay by Randall Wallace, of Braveheart, Man in the Iron Mask, Pearl Habor, and We Were Soldiers.

While there doesn't seem to be any definitive news about the supposed Outlander mini-series on ABC, that doesn't stop Outlander fans from indulging in wild speculation about the cast. The truth is, the cast will probably be comprised mostly of unknowns.

The sixth book of the Outlander series, tentatively titledThe Sons of Liberty, has not yet been written. Gabaldon has said that there will probably be two more books in the series, rather than one, as she previously speculated.

(In the UK, Outlander is titled Cross Stitch, and The Outlandish Companion is titled Through the Stones.) The final book in the saga, Sons of Liberty has no release date as yet. ABC has recently purchased the rights to Outlander for a miniseries.

When did you begin writing Outlander ?; I began writing it in 1988 and finished it ... People say that they want to see the books made into miniseries but they want everything just the way it is in the books. They don't want to see anything left out. But if someone wanted to make a really nice adaptation I'd be delighted.

You knew it was coming with The Outlander Movie post: my casting ideas. To be honest, I prefer to see Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels adapted into a HBO television series in a one season-one novel format.
