My Peacock Gudgeon Tank. they love the PVC "caves", but mostly ignore the coconut cave. Volcanic rocks are added here for decoration and as a very beneficial aide to filtration. The volcanic rock acts as a nitrate removal system like the more widely used "Live Rock" in saltwater tanks.

To induce your peacock gudgeon to spawn, you should condition them with plenty of nutritious foods. If you have a healthy male and female in the same tank, chances are that they will spawn. An easy way to tell if they spawned is if you don't see the male for a couple of days, then he is probably in the PVC guarding eggs.
