A Periaktoi is an ancient device, often thought to be of Greek origin, that is still used for stage scene changes. It is usually a triangular unit with (3) equal sides. Each side can have a different scene painted on it.

Periaktoi were three sided columns with different scene painted on each side. These could be rotated to create different scenes. Though these periaktoi are often associated with the Greek theatre, there is no evidence that they were used until the theatre of ancient Rome.
