I recently (10/02) had a rectocele repaired and the doctor recommended a perineorrhaphy at the same time. The only difficulties I had w.r.t. the rectocele was difficulty defecating (manual assistance was necessary some of the time, usually just a finger in the vagina) and a bulge in the vagina.
