We all agree that partisanship can shift in non-trivial ways over relatively short periods of time. There is another side, led by Don Green and colleagues who argue that party id is actually very, very stable and except for some random measurement error is really not responsive to other political forces.

Is that what our political process has come down to? Voting somebody into office because it would be the “lesser of two evils”? Can’t we find and vote for somebody who will do a good job in office, make this country a better and safer place, and fix the problems that run rampant in our society?
