May 28, 2005 A watched pot never boils. What I have heard is that the expression meant somthing and that is really the point of this amusing proverb.

Here is a brief essay which has resulted from an argument I had in a pub once with a group of good friends about whether the Old Proverb 'A Watched Pot never Boils' is true.I think I won with a convincing argument that the Proverb is clearly false.You may judge.

Take the old proverb, "A watched pot never boils." Now imagine a tiny, quantum-size "pot of water" being heated on a really tiny stove. We all know pots of water boil, given a few minutes or so. You would certainly think the watched quantum pot would also boil.
