It's pretty obvious that Rahab had decided quickly to hide the spies. It put her life at risk, but she had become convinced by the stories that had circulated in Canaan about Israel's God. She had concluded "the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below" (2:11). That was quite a statement of faith.

Her first act of faith we saw in verse 1, when she let the spies stay at her house. But somehow news about them and what they were up to leaked out, and the king sent guards to Rahab to capture the spies. Rahab's second act of faith was in protecting the Israelites by sending the guards on a wild goose chase.

Joshua's Spies Encounter Rahab ... Like Moses before him, Joshua sent out two spies into Jericho. Upon entering the city they came across Rahab's residence. Why Rahab? Scripture doesn't explain. Perhaps through divine leadership, because God already knew the condition of Rahab's heart.
