In this enlarged photo we can see the details of the Eastern red cedar's "leaf" structure and berries. We have not been able to find anything in the literature concerning the possible transition structure of the cedar from a needle bearing tree with cones to one with leaves and fruit.

Common Name: Eastern Red Cedar ... The spores float through the air until (if they are very lucky) they land on an apple tree, where they make orange spots on the leaves and fruits. Orchard growers don't appreciate this much, but it ordinarily does little harm to the apple trees.
