Hello all My name is Bonita and my husband is an Ex Marine, he got out in 2001 with regrets, he was discharged with an honorable discharge but with an RE code of 4 is there any way he can get his RE code upgraded to reenlist because he wants this really bad, is there any one ... 3R, Eligible for Probationary Reenlistment.

He was assigned a JMB separation code (unsuitability-personality disorder) and an RE-4 reenlistment code (not eligible for reenlistment). He claimed that the Coast Guard incorrectly characterized his discharge and requested that his separation and reenlistment codes be upgraded.

As part of his reenlistment from FT. Hood, TX he was to be sent to FT. Bragg, ... He was told if he went to Ft. Knox they would discharge him with an other than honorable discharge with an re code 4 and after 6 months he could have it upgraded so he may reenlist. It has been 6 years and he still cannot get this fixed.

What is the name of your state? Georgia I have heard that if you receive a code of 4, you can't reenlist into any branch for any reason, is this true ... A: True you are ineligible for reenlistment with a RE4. You can try to have it upgraded. Do a Internet search on "how to upgrade your reenlistment code."
