A somatic reflex arc is one in which there is the simplest possible arrangement of elements to permit a response to stimuli, and in which the final element in the chain is skeletal muscle. In the crude sketch given here, you see the basic elements of this system.

The primary components of the reflex arc have been identified as the sensory-nerve cell (or receptor) that receives the stimulation, in turn connecting to another nerve cell that activates the muscle cell (or effector), which thus performs the reflex action.

The reflex arc is an automatic, involuntary reaction to a stimulus. When the doctor taps your knee with the rubber hammer, she/he is testing your reflex (or knee-jerk). The reaction to the stimulus is involuntary, with the CNS being informed but not consciously controlling the response.

Such a pathway is called a reflex arc. The sensory nerve fibers of a spinal nerve do not enter the spinal cord at the same place as the motor nerve fibers of the same nerve leave the spinal cord. Sensory fibers enter the dorsal part of the spinal cord while motor fibers leave the ventral part.

CONCLUSION: In the normal rats, the pelvic striated muscles motoneurons locate in the ventral horn of L5-S1. In the model rats, the pelvic striated muscles motoneurons innervated by artificial somatic-autonomic reflex arc locate in the ventral horn of the L4. After the artificial somatic-autonomic reflex arc is...
